Parker

A very interesting pen made by Parker that held twice as much ink than other pens of the time (“102%” more as claimed by the company!), “The graceful pen that made a railroad spike look like a sissy.” Hilarious! I guess that mean this was the man’s pen...

To fill this pen the user had to unscrew the cap from the end of the barrel that covered the metal or plastic plunger. The nib, along with half the section, was placed in the bottle of ink and the button was depressed ten times (with the user pausing for approximately a second or two between strokes), and then, on the eleventh upswing of the plunger, the user paused for about five seconds before removing the nib and section from the ink bottle. The nib and section were then wiped with a cloth and the barrel cap screwed back on. Very nice pens. However, it has been my experience that they have not held up well with age and when a vintage one is found, it frequently needs restored prior to use. There were several models of this pen, one with a lock plunger (metal), and then with a push metal plunger, and later, the plastic plunger type.
